Man dead in officer-involved shooting in Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD, N.M. -- New Mexico State Police confirm they are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in Bloomfield on Wednesday.

State police said the Bloomfield Police Department was involved in the shooting.

The family of the victim confirmed to KOB the man's name was Jonathan Rogers.

According to NMSP, the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute call around 10:15 a.m. on Ruth Lane. A state police official said two officers were confronted with a deadly weapon when they responded to the scene.

Police say the reason for the shots being fired still is being investigated.

The name of the man killed in the shooting has not been released at this time.
