Gallup police arrested 25-year-old Clara Beth Joe Wednesday in connection with the death of her 13-month-old child, who was found dead in a culvert near the Crystal Chapter House on the Navajo Nation in San Juan County January 31.

After Joe's arrest, she was turned over to the FBI. She is expected to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge B. Paul Briones in Farmington Friday.

Joe faces involuntary manslaughter charges, according to an FBI spokesperson.

The FBI, Gallup police and Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety have been investigating the death since January.
