Ticket sales prove the Burning of Zozobra should be bigger than ever this year.
According to event organizer Ray Sandoval, the Kiwanis Club has sold 9,811 tickets so far—a record number for the day before the event. In 2013, 987 tickets had been sold by this point.
The event venue, Fort Marcy Park, can accommodate up to 40,000 people.

"The Friday night event is making a big difference," Sandoval said. "Families are able to come this year from Albuquerque and other places."
Zozobra was held on Thursday for 17 years.
Other changes to expect this year include 15 different lots for parking, including the South Capitol Railyard.
A free shuttle will be offered between downtown Santa Fe and Fort Marcy Park.
Zozobra will also sport a new look inspired by the 1920s model. This year, Old Man Gloom will wear a loincloth, shackles and a handlebar mustache. He's also taller, standing at 50 feet 2 inches.
Zozobra's hair color is still a mystery. Event organizers will paint it on tomorrow just hours before the event.
