LOS LUNAS -- A man who a Los Lunas family took to their home to give him food and a shower ended up burglarizing their van later that evening.

Los Lunas police say a man, who is still unidentified, was asking for water and cigarettes near Highway 314 on August 17, and a family of Good Samaritans decided to take him to their home for a proper meal and shower.

According to police, the family also gave him some money before sending him on his way.

However, later that night, the man returned to the home and burglarized the van the family had picked him up in earlier that day. He allegedly stole two bags of personal property from the van, along with a child's jacket.

Los Lunas police arrested the man, who was wearing the child's jacket at the time, and took him to the police station for booking.

While at the police station, the man allegedly threw himself on the floor, injuring his head. He was taken to a local hospital before he was identified by police, and fled the hospital before officers arrived to identify him.

The Los Lunas Police Department is asking for help identifying the suspect, and asks anyone with information to contact them at (505) 839-3855, or Officer Nikki Baca at (505) 238-2372.
