Albuquerque police have released new information about the events leading up to the deadly shooting of a robbery suspect at a smoke shop on Menaul at Wisconsin.

Investigators revealed on Aug. 10 around 1:20 p.m., William J. Corrie, 49, entered the Oasis Smoke Shop and Hookah Lounge wearing sunglasses and a cloth covering his face.

Once inside the store, APD said Corrie pulled out a handgun and ordered two employees to the back room.

Corrie tied the pair up with duct tape, zip ties and electrical cords before taking money from the cash register.

After arguing with the employees over keys to a vehicle, Corrie exited the store through the back door.

The employees then untied themselves and left the back room. One of the men retrieved his personal handgun from his backpack, just before Corrie returned through the front door with a gun in his hand.

Police say the employee fired at Corrie two times, killing him.

According to police, no charges have been filed against the employee.
