Suspect sought after deadly shooting

Albuquerque police are searching for Daryl Martinez, 19, after a deadly shooting in northeast Albuquerque early Saturday.

Officers were dispatched to 6100 Harper Drive Northeast before 2:30 a.m. in reference to several gunshot calls.

Upon arrival, police found James Lucero, 27, was bleeding from the chest area, was not moving and appeared to be deceased. Rescue arrived on scene and Lucero was pronounced deceased. 

According to the criminal complaint, Martinez, Lucero, and a group of people were listening to music. One woman told police she could feel some kind of tension in the air between Martinez and Lucero.

The woman did not witness the shooting, but said she heard four or five gunshots shortly after James and another male decided to leave the apartment and were walked out by a another female.

Another witness told police she turned around and saw Martinez holding a gun.

An arrest warrant for Martinez was issued Sunday and detectives are working to apprehend him.
