Former Albuquerque Academy star Curtis Beach is taking the next step in his track and field career by turning pro and signing with the World Athletics Center.

He will move to Arizona full-time to train, as the two-time national champion in the heptathlon is still aiming for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

"I think I have a good shot at medaling on an Olympic team," Beach said. "I think this upcoming year, I'd like to make the 2015 World Championships in Beijing. I don't know if it's realistic for me to medal there, but I think by the Olympics, I can get a medal."
