The Santa Fe Sheriff's Office says a combination of alcohol and fighting ended with a man driving his vehicle off a cliff near Los Alamos last week.

The car went off Highway 502 and plummeted around 200 feet into the canyon below last Tuesday.

Zachary Sanchez, the driver, admitted to drinking vodka shots before the crash, according to a sheriff's office spokesman. Sanchez claimed his passenger, Andres Harvier, was acting crazy and grabbed the steering wheel before saying she wanted to end their lives.

Both were ejected from the vehicle in the crash.

Harvier remains in critical condition.
