Gadi Schwartz
Gadi Schwartz is the Santa Fe Bureau Chief for Eyewitness News 4.
Gadi began his television career at KOB-TV while still in college working summers as an assignment editor.
Gadi grew up around New Mexico news. He says he spent a good deal of his childhood tagging along with his father Sergio Schwartz, who covered stories around the state for the Spanish TV station in Albuquerque. “I’ve always been amazed at how one job could give you so many insights into what different people do, how they live and who they are,” Gadi said.
While in college at New Mexico State University, Gadi decided to try his hand at news and quickly found he had a knack for story telling. He worked for the student-produced newscast, where he reported, anchored and produced the nightly show News22.
While still in school, Gadi also traveled to Oaxaca, Mexico, to help document one family’s migration to the United States.
Gadi is the recipient of several Associated Press awards including Best General News, Best Editing and Feature News. Gadi was also a student producer for the Emmy award-winning documentary “Crossing.”
Gadi was born in Guatemala City. His family moved to Belen at age 3 and then Albuquerque when he turned 7. Gadi attended Cibola High School and is a New Mexico State University graduate. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Government and Journalism with a minor in International Relations.
Gadi likes reading, spending time with his little brothers and listening to people tell stories.
