Michael Kelting
Michael Kelting is the chief meteorologist at Eyewitness News 4, taking over the position in January 2009.
Before arriving at KOB, Michael served as the weeknight meteorologist at KRON-TV in San Francisco and was the morning meteorologist at WBAY-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Michael also worked as the morning meteorologist and news anchor at WALA-TV in Mobile, Alabama.
Michael began his career at KLFY-TV in Lafayette, Louisiana, then moved north to be the weekend meteorologist at WUPW-TV in Toledo, Ohio, and also worked at WXIX-TV in Cincinnati.
Michael has earned the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and National Weather Association (NWA) seals of approval. He's an Emmy nominee for his work in the Chicago/Midwest region. The Illinois Broadcasters Association also recognized Michael with its award for Outstanding Achievements in Broadcasting.
Michael earned a Masters of Science in Meteorology from Mississippi State University, as well as a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Studies degree at the University of Toledo. Michael also taught meteorology at Toledo and Owens Community College.
In his personal time, Michael exercises a lot. His says his favorite thing to do is throw a football. He also likes to jam to the Beatles, Beck, Zeppelin, Marley, G-Love, Lucinda Williams, Nikka Costa, Joan Osborne, Sinatra, zydeco and the blues. He also loves to hang out with his wife Laura and baby Kepler.
