The Boston Red Sox used a term back in 2004 when they beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series. The Term "Cowboy Up." Basically it means get tough and play hard and that is just what the Lobos did in beating Wyoming last Saturday afternoon in Laramie. The Cowboys did all the things that they do well to win games and it still wasn't enough to get the pokes over the top. The first reason is because of Tony Danridge, he was unstoppable scoring 29 points. Next was the execution of the Lobos offense, when they needed hoops they got them. Finally the Lobos play off the bench was super including Will Brown's defense on Brandon Ewing on the final play of the game. The result, a share of the MWC Championship.
Next up is the Cowboys Thursday night at 9:30 at the Thomas and Mack Center. The Lobos haven't faired well when they have been the 3-seed. In Fran Fraschilla's first season the Lobos were the 3-seed and lost to BYU. Last season the Lobos were the 3-seed and lost to Utah. Keep Wyoming off the free throw line and they can't beat you.
Eyewitness News 4 will give you nightly reports on the tournament from Las Vegas at 6:00 and 10:00 beginning Tuesday night.
