Spring storm descends on northern NM

Snowfall in Cleveland, New Mexico Friday morning
A spring snowstorm has covered parts of northern New Mexico with snow, but further north the same storm is causing much more trouble.

The Holman Hill area of Highway 518 has received up to 12 inches of snow, according to the Department of Transportation, which is urging caution on that highway as well as Interstate 25 between Bernal and Watrous.

A winter storm advisory has been issued for Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Taos and Mora counties as well as for parts of McKinley, San Juan, Sandoval and San Miguel counties.

But Colorado has received the brunt of the storm where Interstate 25 was closed from northwest of Denver to Cheyenne, Wyoming.

The National Weather Service is forecasting up to 20 inches of snow in the Denver area and 12 inches in Colorado Springs by Saturday.
