(AP) WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama says he’s ready for more questions at a news conference Thursday about revelations that the IRS singled out conservative groups for extra scrutiny.

Obama has scheduled a joint news conference for noon with visiting Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan (REH’-jehp TY’-ihp UR’-doh-wahn).

The president announced the question-and-answer session Wednesday as he delivered a brief statement about how his administration is handling the IRS situation. Obama says the agency’s conduct was inexcusable, and he’s angry about it. He also said the acting IRS commissioner has resigned.

Besides the IRS, the president is sure to get questions about other pressing matters, including the civil war in Syria and how his administration responded to last year’s deadly assault on a U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya.
