(AP) WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama is greeting donors at a Washington political mixer as his re-election campaign heads for a final round of fundraising before year’s end.

Obama was being joined at the event Wednesday by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick.

Democratic Party officials said about 40 people are attending the late afternoon fundraiser at the St. Regis Hotel, just blocks from the White House.

Attendees are paying at least $17,900 per person. The money is split between Obama’s re-election campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said the event is closed to the media because the president wasn’t making formal remarks.

Obama has raised more than $150 million through the end of September, the last reporting period, for his campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
