Girl killed in rollover near Melrose

MELROSE, N.M. - An 11-year-old Clovis girl has been killed and four other people injured in a single-vehicle rollover about 15 miles north of Melrose.

New Mexico State Police say Sonya Trujillo died at a local hospital after being ejected from her family's minivan in Friday night's accident. Police say Trujillo was not wearing a seat belt.

The van's driver, 38-year-old Mary Trujillo of Clovis, lost control of the van after it drifted off New Mexico 268.

The van rolled three times ejecting Sonya Trujillo and two boys, who were also unrestrained in the back of the van. The two boys are in critical condition at a Lubbock, Texas, hospital.

Mary Trujillo and a 17-year-old passenger also were injured, but police say their conditions are unknown.
