A member of the Farmington Fire Department has resigned after being arrested late last week for driving drunk.

The Farmington Daily Times reports that Thomas Meuir resigned on Tuesday.

The paper says that Meiur led police on a short chase on US Highway 64 last Friday. The officers were trying to pull him over for a traffic violation.

Authorities say that Meuir had a blood-alcohol content of 0.26 – more than three times the legal level of presumed intoxication.

Meiur is the third Farmington firefighter arrested for DWI in the past four months.
