OMI: Remains are bear, not human
BELEN, N.M. (AP) - Remains found over the weekend near Belen belonged to a bear, not a human.
The state Office of the Medical Investigator said Monday the foot and part of a leg found in Valencia County are those of a bear.
The OMI says there are only four minor differences between the remains of a bear and the remains of a human.
Horseback riders found the bones Sunday evening.
Valencia County sheriff’s deputies say they hadn’t had any recent cases of missing persons in the area.
