Bodies ID’d as missing brothers
The remains of three of four bodies retrieved from Cochiti Lake in a car have been identified as three brothers who have been missing since 2001.
The Office of the Medical Examiner reports that the remains are those of Christopher, Daniel and Richard Sanchez.
The three brothers were taken by their father, Richard Sanchez, for the weekend in 2001 and never returned.
The car and the bodies were retrieved last Thursday by a state police dive team using sonar.
The team had been in the lake looking for a missing truck when it discovered the muddy Ford Taurus.
Richard Sanchez had owned a Ford Taurus in 2001 when he and the children were last seen.
