Udall promotes GI Bill resource guide
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Tom Udall is urging post-9/11 veterans and their families to use a new resource and application guide when applying for benefits under the new GI Bill.
The Democrat’s office said Wednesday that the Department of Veterans Affairs will begin distributing benefits to post-9/11 veterans and family members who qualify beginning in August.
Udall’s father and uncle both benefited from the original Montgomery GI Bill.
The senator said he will never forget the debt owed to those who have fought to keep America safe. He also said America has a responsibility to support men and women in uniform.
Anyone who served for at least 90 days after September 10, 2001 or was discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days is eligible for benefits under the new law.
