Posted at: 07/21/2009 6:51 PM BCSO: Man raped boy for more than 11 years
They have arrested a man they say had been raping a boy for 11 years. The victim was just five years old when the abuse began. He is now 23. Joseph Martinez is charged with 20 counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, 11 counts of child abuse and 44 counts of sexual exploitation of children. A search warrant indicates that Martinez is a co-owner of the business Accustripe, a parking lot stripe company where the abuse allegedly occurred. The investigation started back in April when BCSO deputies responded to a 911 hangup call at Martinez's home. While there, they say they discovered nearly 300 pornographic tapes, some of which showed Martinez engaging in sex acts with the underage victim. Detective Kyle Hartsock of the BCSO Special Victims Unit said the suspect used drugs to coerce the victim. "He's giving the victims marijuana to smoke, he's giving him alcohol, obviously underage. The victim seems fairly out of it in most of these videos. He's been having this happen to him for a while and he's kind of out of it," Hartsock said. Detectives say from the tapes they have looked at, they think there could be two more underage victims, but so far they haven't been identified. At this point, it's not clear who made the 911 call. There was no one home when deputies showed up. Martinez arrived at the house after deputies. |
