LOVINGTON, N.M. (AP) - Sidewalks along a one-mile stretch in downtown Lovington are being widened to make them more accessible to wheelchairs in a $350,000 project.

The four-month project will replace existing sidewalks with new ones that include wheelchair ramps to bring the section of Main Street into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

City officials say drivers on Main Street can expect a one-lane closure and short delays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Drivers are asked to watch for construction personnel, observe temporary construction signs and reduce speed.
