Several groups, including LULAC and Vecino's United hosted Saturday's forum.
Albuquerque's city elections are less than a month away, and Saturday's voter forum held at Albuquerque's main library to raise awareness about certain topics.

The forum was hosted by several watchdog groups, including LULAC and New Mexico Vecino's United.

The groups say they're concerned with human and civil rights violations within the Albuquerque Police Department.

The group addressed the use of Taser guns, something that LULAC says should be made illegal.

Organizers say they want a stronger citizen oversight committee that would make the police department more accountable.

Overall, they want voters to be informed when they head to the polls next month.

Vecino's United Executive Director Andres Valdez said, "We want voters to make a more educated decision about who they select for mayor and who they select for city council."

The race for mayor and city council spots comes to a head when the polls open on October 6.

Early voting and absentee voting are already underway.
