CUBA, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico Environment Department has reached a settlement agreement with Menefee Mining Corp. that will require the company to pay the state $100,000 for violating the state's air quality act.

The department filed a lawsuit in state district court in 2008 to require Menefee to apply for an air quality permit.

State officials issued compliance orders against the company the same year.

Menefee, located south of Cuba, N.M., mines and processes humate, a plant fertilizer.
