A landmark Albuquerque restaurant and the State of New Mexico have agreed on a plan for the restaurant to repay delinquent tax payments to the state, allowing the restaurant to remain open.

Garduno's owes about $953,000 in back taxes, interest, and penalties to the state, the state's taxation & revenue department said.

The taxation and revenue department will maintain existing liens against the company as it pays back the owed money over the next five years, according to the deal approved on Thursday by District Court Judge Daniel Sanchez.
