Speeders breezing through the construction zone on Interstate 40 were enough to prompt one viewer to ask what's being done to enforce the law.

Faylene from Albuquerque wrote:

"Traveling on I-40 this afternoon, I obeyed the speed limit in the construction area and everyon, and I mean everyone passed me. Even a school bus!"

The answer is something that will make a lot of drivers happy.

You're not gonna have to worry about speeding in the construction zone because by sundown Friday, the massive, yearlong construction project will be over and done with.

"Lanes of traffic all restored - traffic control signs come down - speed limits restored - so it'll be a great time tomorrow for the Friday afternoon commute," Department of Transportation Spokesman Phil Gallegos said.

For a year, most drivers have been blissfully ignoring the 45 mile an hour speed limit in the construction zone. Double fine warnings don't seem to slow most drivers down.
