A glitch in a computer in Salt Lake City Thursday morning that caused flight cancellations nationwide failed to affect any traffic at the Albuquerque International Sunport.

Lines at the airport were short at midday and all flights were on schedule, yet officials said that there could be some delays later in the day at other airports.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported that the glitch forced dispatchers to send airline plans and routes to air traffic controllers who, in turn, had to manually enter that data into computers.

“That’s not affecting systems that deal with communications or tracking of flights,” said Daniel Jiron, the Sunport spokesman.

Jiron said the reason that the Sunport avoided delays is because at the time of the glitch, there was only one flight out of Albuquerque headed to a major airline hub.

With Thanksgiving less than a week away, some passengers at the Sunport were considering second guessing their holiday travel plans.

“It makes me think about maybe driving or something like that,” said a woman who identified herself only as Debbie.

Sunport officials say, to be safe, if you’re flying out of Albuquerque it’s a good idea to check on your flight’s status before you leave home.
