Valerie Castro
Valerie Castro joined the Eyewitness News 4 team as a general assignment reporter in July of 2007. She began reporting in Farmington, New Mexico at KOBF-TV in August of 2006. Valerie anchored the morning show and reported during the week. She became the KOB Four Corners Bureau reporter in March of 2007.
Valerie graduated from the University of Colorado in 2006 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in History. As an undergraduate, she interned at KCNC in Denver and ABC News in New York with 20/20 and Primetime.
Valerie was born in Mexico City, Mexico and lived in the Netherlands and the UK before calling Colorado home. She enjoys visiting her family as often as she can in Littleton, Colorado, especially her “mini-me” little sister Jessica who she calls her “best friend.”
Valerie is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and was selected as a student participant in the broadcast project, El Noticiero 2006. She enjoys spending time outside in the great New Mexico weather along with reading, traveling, shopping, finding new restaurants, and eating her all time favorite, pizza.
