Over 1,000 residents of south-central New Mexico were without power Saturday morning after a transformer problem led to an outage.

The Sierra Electric Co-Op Company says the outage affected customers in Truth or Consequences, Elephant Butte, Monticello, and Winston.

Eyewitness News 4 meteorologist Shar Spalding said the high temperature in Truth or Consequences was only expected to be 44 degrees on Saturday.

Power was restored around 11:30 Saturday morning.

Officials say a transformer relay problem led to the blackout.
