Eddie Garcia

Eddie Garcia has been part of KOB Eyewitness News 4 team since September 2010.

Previous to KOB, Eddie worked at KOSA-TV in his hometown of Odessa,Texas for 5 years as an anchor/reporter. In his time there he covered: fires, floods, feasts and famines including - Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Ike, the shootings at Fort Hood, the huge Child Protective Services raid on a mormon polygamist ranch and even Marine bootcamp in San Diego.

He has received numerous Texas Associated Press Broadcaster awards for: reporting, photography, editing, team coverage, specialty series and breaking news. He was also honored as the youngest recipient of the the Odessa Heritage Community Statesman Award in 2010 and has been recognized for his reports on education and as a hispanic leader.

Eddie didn't start his TV career in front of the camera, infact he began at the tender age of 16 as a studio cameraman at a local TV station and did almost every job you can do behind the scenes.

After highschool he moved to Austin, Texas to work at KEYE-TV as a studio hand and control room operator. After getting shoved in an overnight position pushing buttons in a: cold, dark, control room - he decided that he made a BIG mistake and that TV wasn't for him, so he moved back home to finish his degree at Midland College.

In a series of flukes Eddie got back into TV (something he vowed he would never do) and started at KOSA-TV as a news photographer shooting stories out in the field.

Just one month in, he convinced his boss to let him report a story on the air just for the fun of it. With the help of an amazing producer, that story turned out to be a great success.

For the next few months management would tap on him to come in on his days off to do some reporting and eventually he was hooked and became a full time reporter and then an anchor.

Now, years later, Eddie is proud to be a member of KOB Eyewitness News 4 and is committed to providing balanced and accurate reporting to the people of New Mexico.
