A jury found Jesus Oscar Dominguez guilty of rape and kidnapping on Friday.

The conviction stems from a February 2010 case in which the victim said a stranger knocked on the door claiming to be a friend of her father.

The man claimed he ran out of gas and asked to use the restroom and borrow a gas can.

The man had a gun and forced himself on the woman. DNA evidence collected from the scene matched a felony database sample from Dominguez.

Katie’s Law requires DNA to be taken from anyone arrested for a felony.

The law is named after Katie Sepich, a New Mexico State University student who was kidnapped, raped and killed in 2003.
