Kickoff for the 6th Annual Gildan New Mexico Bowl is Saturday at 12 p.m. at University Stadium.

The Temple Owls and Wyoming Cowboys are already in Albuquerque to prepare for the game and fans are springing into town.

“We're going to go to Sadie's,” Sharon Biezunes, a Wyoming fan, said. “We've heard it's very famous.”

Restaurants are preparing for big business from the bowl and several hotels have already reported that they are completely booked.

That’s good news to the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce.

“We have a recession going on right now,” Terri Cole said. “So an event like this is even more important at this time of year with this business sector than ever before.”

In 2010 the economic boost from the bowl game was in the millions, Cole said.

“It's an economic boost like nobody's business here in Albuquerque and the entire Metropolitan area,” she said.

It also doesn’t hurt that Albuquerque will be featured during the nationally televised game on ESPN.

Local hospitality has also gone a long way to bring back fans who attended previous New Mexico Bowl games.

“Very good hosts, very friendly and very fun,” Biezunes, whose family attended the 2009 game, said. “It's a wonderful place, beautiful place.”
