Police: HIV-positive man bites healthcare worker

A New Mexico man who police say is HIV positive is behind bars after allegedly biting a nurse-tech at Lovelace Medical Center.

Police say Alex Marquez attacked the woman when she tried to give him medication.

Officers say he also punched the woman in the face.

Marquez is facing charges of aggravated battery to a healthcare worker.

Lovelace says they have a procedure in place anytime an employee is exposed to a pathogen such as HIV.
