TAOS, N.M. (AP) - Officials with the Carson National Forest are seeking public comments on a new impact report that covers projects being proposed by Taos Ski Valley as part of the ski resort's master development plan.

The draft environmental impact statement includes a discussion of the projects, what issues were raised and possible alternatives.

It also looks at the environmental effects of each alternative. The preferred alternative includes installing two new lifts, upgrading three lifts to reduce ride times and cutting two new areas for advanced and expert skiers.

The plan also calls for building a new tubing facility, making a snowshoe trail and developing a lift-served mountain bike trail for use during the summer.

Officials say none of the alternatives would require expanding or altering the ski resort's special use permit area.
