ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The National Weather Service says a winter weather system is bringing snow, sleet and freezing rain to New Mexico's mountains and eastern plains.

Meteorologists at the weather service's Albuquerque office say hazardous conditions are expected in the southeast plains along a line from Clovis to Roswell on Sunday, with snow, sleet and ice accumulations likely.

Significant snowfall is expected in the San Juan and Jemez mountains and the adjacent highlands.

The Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the northern part of the state will also see winter weather, with light snow accumulations possible near Espanola and Santa Fe.

The cold artic air mass is expected to move to the east through the day, but may linger in some areas through Monday morning's rush hour.
