Ex-NMDOT employee among 14 charged in Santa Fe drug ring

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say 14 men in the Santa Fe area have been accused of trafficking in narcotics.
The results of a three-year investigation was announced Thursday by the FBI in Albuquerque, the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Mexico, Santa Fe police, the Santa Fe Sheriff's Office and New Mexico State Police.
The 14 defendants are charged in three indictments.
That includes nine men who are charged in a 42-count indictment filed under seal Wednesday by a federal grand jury in Albuquerque.
The men are accused of conspiring to distribute cocaine in Santa Fe County.
Some of the alleged offenses date back to August 2010. Authorities say one of the defendants was employed by the New Mexico Transportation Department as a civil engineering technician prior to his arrest last month.
