Hacker High is a new international project designed to teach kids how to hack, but it isn't training future cyber criminals.

"Hacker is not a word that's synonymous with criminal," instructor Glen Norman said. "Hacker is a word that means a person who explores- that tries to figure out how things work."

Kids are taught to protect themselves online.

They are offered detailed instructions about how to stay safe while chatting, combat viruses and tips on web privacy and social media awareness.

"The first computers that were in my house I'm pretty sure they were like big and they didn't do much except for calculating math problems," student Rosa Sun said. "Now you can do anything."

Students are excited the share their knowledge with friends and family.

"I'm a computer geek now so if you have problems you can just call me," Sun said. "Cause I'm like a genius at computers but. It's really fun and you get to learn a lot."
