SANTA CLARA PUEBLO, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez says recent rains have made matters worse for Santa Clara Pueblo as it tries to recover from last year's Las Conchas Fire.

Martinez and state emergency management officials met with pueblo Gov. Walter Dasheno on Tuesday to tour flood damage and recovery work.

Dasheno has been pressing federal officials to release funding that will help the tribe repair roads, remove debris and build infrastructure to control runoff from the burn scar of last year's Las Conchas Fire.

The blaze burned hundreds of square miles of the Jemez Mountains and resulted in flooding in Santa Clara Canyon last year and again last week.

Martinez says the tribe and state have assessed the latest damage and will be requesting that the Federal Emergency Management Agency conduct its own assessment.
