SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - State health officials say they cannot pinpoint the cause of an illness linked to a folk art market.

State Department of Health epidemiologist Joan Baumach says 33 people reported suffering from diarrhea and fever after visiting the Santa Fe International Folk Art Market.

But she tells the Santa Fe New Mexican  that none of the viruses or bacteria the department tested for were found in stool samples from the sickened people.

Baumach says anecdotal reports lead the department to believe that the people ate from a booth serving Ethiopian food on July 14.

Officials were unable to test the food because none of it remained. They've closed the case. An inspection report showed no violation for the eatery or 22 others that were tested on the market's opening day.
