Hundreds of flowers brought smiles to dozens of seniors Friday morning at The Bridge Assisted Living Community in Farmington.

“I think they're just gorgeous...beautiful," resident Hazel Neeley said. Mary Lou Rhodes chose purple flowers because it’s her favorite color. “I think it's very uplifting," she said. "It's a sign of happiness."

Teleflora is a national company that brokers flower orders to local florists.

Their national “Make Someone Smile Week” is an event Billie Gurule—with Bloomfield Florist—has participated in for the last three years.

“This year we're doing 244 mugs that Teleflora donated," Gurule said. "We donate the labor and I've got some amazing warehouses that donate product for me."

Gurule and her boss, Sylvia, chose who they gave flowers to.

“Just seeing people smile—I mean you saw the people here today," she said. "It's just an awesome feeling to be able to do that for someone else."

Next year's location has already been decided, but since it’s a surprise Gurule is keeping her lips sealed.

“I’m just really grateful that I have the opportunity to do this for other people," she said.
