LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Defense lawyers are slated to begin to make their case for a New Mexico family accused of selling weapons to Mexican drug cartels.

Rick Reese, owner of New Deal Shooting Sports in Deming, is expected Monday to continue to testify that he didn't know that weapons he sold were to be used for cartels in their ongoing feud.

He, his wife, Terri, and their sons, Ryin and Remington, have been on trial on charges that they sold assault rifles and ammunition to people who said the arms were bound for Mexico to battle the La Sinaloa drug cartel.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports that U.S. Judge Robert Brack told the jury last week that testimony may conclude Monday, with the possibility of closing arguments in the afternoon.
