A man who caused a SWAT situation in Southwest Albuquerque on Wednesday has been arrested.

Albert Lovato, 23, now faces charges of kidnapping and aggravated battery.

Police were called to a domestic violence incident near 11th and Coal at about 5:30 p.m.

Police say Lovato had strangled his girlfriend, who is five months pregnant, and then held her against her will.

Officers say Lovato refused to come out, but finally surrendered as SWAT team members showed up.
