The battle over funding for the Paseo del Norte interchange will go back to city councilors Monday.

At a special meeting Monday evening, Albuquerque city councilors will consider a proposal to approve a $50 million bond for the project.

The city was planning to put the bond question on the November ballot, but that plan hit a snag last week.

The state Attorney General's Office said the move violate state election laws.

County Commissioners are now looking at possibly putting the bond question on a county ballot instead of the city ballot. But all that could be avoided if city councilors vote to approve the bond.

A supermajority - seven out of the nine councilors - would have to vote "yes" in order to pass the bond. Councilors are not expected to make a final decision Monday night.
