$50,000 bond set for backpack snatcher

Accused backpack snatcher Victor Anaya appeared in court Friday.

Metropolitan Court Judge Briana Zamora said the charges against Anaya are concerning and the allegations against him are very serious.

He could face charges of robbery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery, and child cruelty.

Anaya's bond has been set at 50,000 cash or surety. And because Zamora said Anaya is a threat to community safety, should he make bond, he is to have no contact with anyone who might be a victim.

He must also stay away from Montezuma Elementary School too.

Anaya was uable to appear in court Thursday, as he was on suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
