Semi truck catches fire on Interstate 40 near Grants

Crews cleaned up the burned remains from a semi truck that caught fire on Sunday morning and closed the interstate.

Interstate 40 eastbound lanes are now open between Grants and Prewitt, NM, state police said.

New Mexico State Police said the fire happened around 10 a.m.

The driver escaped the vehicle without injuries. 

Drivers were bottlenecked on the freeway for nearly three hours.
