The entire Balloon Fiesta hinges on one thing - the weather.
If it cooperates, we are in store for a spectacular show. If it doesn't, hundreds of thousands could be left in the cold.
Balloon Fiesta got rained on multiple times in 2011.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Kerry Jones said this time around, it looks like it's going to be windy start to fiesta bright and early Saturday morning.
That could be an indicator for a rocky first weekend.
"We see it return again Saturday evening into Sunday morning - so it may be both Saturday morning and Sunday morning that we contend with this," Jones said.
Jones said the good news is there is not really a chance for wet weather - at least this weekend.
Given weather data from years past, he said it is possible that bad weather could hit the fiesta two or more days during the week.
"It's very, let's say, uncommon to go the entire stretch without inclement weather," Jones said.
Jones also said no matter what the weather does, experts will be on hand, tracking every single change at the Balloon Fiesta.
"There's a team of meteorologists on-site throughout the fiesta that provide that direct briefing to the pilots every single morning," Jones said.
