Some vendors at Balloon Fiesta have warned that food prices would be going up this year. KOB Eyewitness News 4 has now confirmed people will indeed pay more for food at the park.
Vendors say it's because of fees being charged by a new food manager, Ovations Food Service.
To offset the fees, Ken DeWees, owner of Chile Traditions, says he had to raise prices on drinks and breakfast burritos.
Some burritos are going from $5 to $7. Others are jumping from $7 to $8.
"I regret to say that. I wish I could say it's the same thing as last year but it won't be," said DeWees. Balloon Fiesta officials say it's up to individual vendors to determine prices. They say while some vendors have raised prices, others have not.
Tom Garrity with Balloon Fiesta says Ovations Food Service offers a real benefit to vendors.
"With having a professional entity come in and really work with our all of our concessionaires we anticipate that they'll see improved quality of service," Garrity says.
He says vendors can work with Ovations to make their business successful and profitable.
Garrity says Balloon Fiesta has helped Chile Traditions with recipes, cost of goods and offered other advice.
Garrity says Balloon fiesta is glad to have Chile Traditions back this year. Some vendors pulled out of Balloon Fiesta this year because of increased fees
. DeWees says he really hopes people turn out to Balloon Fiesta and support local vendors.
