McKinley Middle school staff and students were evacuated Monday morning after a bomb threat was made by a student.

According to Albuquerque police,  a student had an argument with his classmates, and in frustration, said he was going to blow the school up around 9:15 a.m. Albuquerque Public Schools police evacuated the entire school as a precaution.

A sweep of the entire premises was conducted, and the student's backpack was found to not contain any harmful material. The student was interviewed by APS personnel and his parents were requested at the school, APD said.

Albuquerque police would like to remind parents to keep an open line of communication with their children and teachers. Please be aware if your child is struggling socially at school and address the problem quickly with your child's teacher and administration.
