APD traffic officer hit by vehicle near Balloon Fiesta Park

An Albuquerque Police Department officer is in serious condition after he was hit by an SUV while directing traffic near Balloon Fiesta Park.
The officer was on his police motorcyle at the time of the crash that happened just west of Interstate 25 near the Alameda exit.
He suffered non-life threatening injuries to his leg and hip area.
The officer was airlifted to UNM Hospital for further evaluation.
