Midnight fire near Red River now at 429 acres; 0 percent contained

The Midnight fire burning near Red River has grown to nearly 430 acres.

Authorities tell us the fire is 0 percent contained.

The McCrystal and Cimarron campgrounds in the Valle Vidal have been voluntarily evacuated as a precautionary measure.

An open house is scheduled for the Community House in Red River tomorrow evening, Friday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 6 p.m.

A presentation will be included on the progression of the fire and a discussion on the current full fire suppression, confine and control strategy.

The fire, which began Tuesday, is located 5-6 miles north and east of the town of Red River.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
