ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The six-year graduation rate for Hispanic students at the University of New Mexico has seen its highest jump in a decade.
School officials told the Albuquerque Journal that the rate grew to 44.6 percent this year. That a jump from 41.6 percent in 2011.
Administrators credit the rise to a variety of new programs and student organizations aimed at helping Latino students with financial aid, tutoring and brown bag lunches with faculty members.
The overall six-year graduation rate was 45.8 percent this year, a spike from 45.1 percent in 2011. Around 30 percent of the UNM student body is Latino.
